The Faculty of Engineering of South China Normal University is a teaching and research institution jointly established by Department of Education of Guangdong Province, the People's Government of Foshan Municipality, Nanhai People's Government and South China Normal University. Since its establishment, the Faculty of Engineering has always actively implemented the school-running orientation of "new engineering, interdisciplinary, international and research-oriented". Centering on the six pillar industries of semiconductor, microelectronics (Integrated circuit), communication engineering, artificial intelligence, Beidou high precision orientation and hydrogen energy, it will carry out talent cultivation, scientific research, discipline construction, transformation of scientific research achievements and construction of high-level teaching staff.

        The Faculty of Engineering of South China Normal University dares to be the first to innovate and lead the frontier of discipline development. Physics has been listed in the  "World-class Disciplines" construction list, and optics has been listed in the national key disciplines of China , and it has  doctoral and master's degree programs and post-doctoral research station in first-level disciplines of Physics, Electronic Science and Technology. The Electronic Information Science and Technology has been awarded the national first-class professional construction site, and Electronic Information engineering has been awarded the provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction site. It has established several research platforms, such as Guangdong Key Laboratory of Chip and Integration Technology and Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center of Optoelectronic Testing Instruments. Its basic research and applied basic research in semiconductor devices, electronic information, artificial intelligence and other fields rank among the top of the province and even the country.
