    To deepen collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and industry-education integration in the field of integrated circuits (ICs), and to learn from the advanced practices of leading universities in institutional governance, laboratory development, and educational management, a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering at South China Normal University (SCNU) recently visited the School of Integrated Circuits at Tsinghua University for an exchange and learning session.

    The delegation was led by Wu Lan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the SCNU Faculty of Engineering and Head of the Preparatory Working Group for the School of Electronic Science and Engineering (School of Microelectronics), accompanied by Gao Wei, Assistant to the Head; Xu Huzi, Deputy Director of the Faculty's Administrative Office; and Zhang Lu, a laboratory technician. The delegation was received by Cai Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua's School of Integrated Circuits, and Tang Jianshi, Associate Dean, along with other relevant faculty members.

    The visit began with a guided tour of key research and teaching facilities, including the cleanroom of the Micro/Nano Fabrication Center, the Device Physics Teaching Laboratory, the Basic Electrical Engineering Teaching Laboratory, and the EDA Teaching Laboratory. During the tour, the delegation closely examined the overall layout, hardware configuration, research and teaching applications, daily operation management, and safety protocols of each laboratory. The team gained valuable insights into Tsinghua's cutting-edge approaches and proven practices in IC laboratory construction, hands-on teaching implementation, and research platform maintenance—providing important reference points for the future development and upgrading of SCNU's own laboratory facilities.

    Following the tour, a symposium was held in Room 2-322, Building 2, Ziqiang Science and Technology Tower at Tsinghua University, chaired by Secretary Cai Jian. The session began with mutual introductions among participants. Representatives from Tsinghua's School of Integrated Circuits then presented an overview of the School's development in disciplinary construction, faculty team building, research platform establishment, and talent cultivation systems. Secretary Wu Lan, in turn, introduced SCNU Faculty of Engineering's current disciplinary layout, teaching and research initiatives, talent training models, and future development plans for the School of Electronic Science and Engineering (School of Microelectronics).

    During the discussion segment, both sides engaged in in-depth and detailed exchanges on core issues concerning industry development and university education. Key topics included the design of undergraduate talent cultivation systems for ICs, innovative models for master's and doctoral student recruitment and training, pathways to enhance students' research capabilities, mechanisms for integrating industry-education and science-education collaboration, and the operation and management of innovation and entrepreneurship practice bases. Both parties candidly shared their practical achievements and experiences in education, research innovation, and base development. They also exchanged ideas and explored solutions to common challenges in disciplinary advancement and talent cultivation, reaching preliminary consensus on resource sharing, experience exchange, and deepened cooperation.

    This visit was substantive and highly targeted. Through the combined format of on-site visits and thematic discussions, the delegation gained a comprehensive understanding of Tsinghua's exemplary practices and mature systems in laboratory development, discipline advancement, talent training, and industry-education integration.

    Moving forward, the School of Electronic Science and Engineering (School of Microelectronics) under SCNU's Faculty of Engineering will take this exchange as an opportunity to assimilate the valuable lessons learned, address developmental gaps, and continuously optimize its disciplinary structure, refine talent cultivation mechanisms, and enhance research innovation and practical education capabilities. The Faculty will also actively explore new models for cross-institutional collaboration, striving to promote the high-quality and connotative development of IC-related disciplines within the Faculty and the University.
