Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier jointly released the 2026 “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list. Professors Zhang Han, Huo Nengjie, and Yin Ming from the Faculty of Engineering, South China Normal University (SCNU), were included. Professor Zhang Han was selected for both the Career-long Impact list and the Single-year Impact list, while Professors Huo Nengjie and Yin Ming were selected for the Single-year Impact list.

It is reported that the list is based on the Scopus database, covering 20 disciplines and 176 subfields, and selects the top 2% of scholars from nearly 7 million scientists worldwide. It is one of the internationally recognized and highly authoritative tools for evaluating academic influence. The publications analyzed in the list include papers from SSCI, SCI, and EI journals as well as EI conference papers, and the evaluation is based on multiple indicators, including total citations, h-index, HM factor, and citations per paper.
In recent years, the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Electronic Science and Engineering (School of Microelectronics) of SCNU have focused on the connotative development of scientific research, encouraging faculty to conduct frontier innovative research. Their research strength and international influence have continued to grow. The inclusion of the three professors in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list is an important achievement of the Faculty and School in implementing the strategy of strengthening the institution through talent and advancing discipline development, fully demonstrating the outcomes of discipline development, research strength, and international academic influence. Going forward, the Faculty and School will keep pace with disciplinary frontiers, strengthen the faculty, enhance disciplinary competitiveness and scientific research, and support the high-quality development of SCNU’s new engineering disciplines.
